BEYOND Live Your Dream: Mentoring Matters

An Orientation to Mentoring

April 22, 6:30 -8:30 pm

Grosse Pointe Woods Library Community Room

Ladies of SIGP,

This is an important update for members who did not attend February’s meeting

For the past few years, our club has been looking for additional ways in which to support women and girls. As a result of several committee meetings, SIGP is writing a Club Grant to Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) titled, BEYOND Live Your Dream: Mentoring Matters.

The grant’s goal is twofold. First, to provide additional financial assistance to Live Your Dream (LYD) award recipients as they further their education. Second, tooffer interested SIGP members training in how to mentor award recipients with the purpose of reducing emotional and functional barriers as stated in recipient surveys.

SIGP aspires to do more than just give a check to award winners. This is a good time to move the Club up to the next level by staying in touch with our awardees and possibly mentoring other groups of women and girls. Bette LePouttre and Carolyn Barth have already met with the 2020 LYD award winners. Liz Lucas and Maddie Colavito will be meeting with the Virginia Wagner Award recipient in early March.

SIGP members have many talents and life experiences to share!  The committee is inviting you to give your input by attending a mentoring orientation presented by Rasheda Kamaria Williams on
